I want to send out positive thoughts to the MedBiquitous community around the globe responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The work of MedBiquitous is continuing to move forward. I will utilize the blog and newsletter to provide you with quarterly updates related to the program. If there is something you would like to know more about, please contact us at medbiq@aamc.org.
Wide World of Standards
On the blog and in the newsletter, you will receive regular updates about the activities of other standards organizations that are relevant to the health professions education community. For next month’s newsletter, I will be providing a summary to date of all the activities I am currently aware of and their impact on health professions education and the healthcare workforce.
If you are aware of additional data or technology standards activities that should be shared with the greater community, please let me know at jpatton@aamc.org.
Road Map and Charge from AAMC Leadership
In December, I met with AAMC executives to discuss the strategic plan and road map for MedBiquitous as an AAMC program. With few friendly amendments, the strategic plan was approved. While we continue to concentrate on program development activities, our standards development activities have also resumed with new requests from the community to make revisions and improvements to our existing collection of standards.
Over the next few months, I will continue to announce initiatives that MedBiquitous will engage in for the remainder of the calendar year. We will be unveiling the full road map as a part of MedBiquitous 2020. Please continue to check the newsletter and blog for additional information.
Meet the interim Steering Committee
To reestablish the governance of the MedBiquitous program, in January 2020, 13 individuals were appointed to the interim Steering Committee (iSC). The members of iSC are a mix of members of the former Board of Directors, the former Executive Committee, as well as individuals who have not previously held leadership positions for the program. We have two remaining spots on the iSC that we are partnering with ADEA and AAVMC to fill.
The following individuals have agreed to serve as your interim Steering Committee (iSC) through Dec. 31, 2020:
Deborah Burgess | The Salus Group |
Gabrielle Campbell | AAMC |
Michael Campion | University of Washington |
Ian Graham | Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists |
Ted Hanss | Yale University |
Scott Helf | Western University/ProgressIQ |
Tao Le | University of Louisville/ScholarRx |
Rosalyn Scott | Wright State University, Retired |
Joan Stanley | AACN |
Marc Triola | New York University |
Marisa Wilson | University of Alabama/AACN |
Luke Woodham | St George's University, London |
Nabil Zary | MBR University of Medicine and Health Sciences |
Responsibilities of the iSC include:
- Governing MedBiquitous standards development activities with a set of processes like those we will follow after we undergo ANSI accreditation
- Providing input and guidance on activities for the MedBiquitous community
- Offering recommendations for appointments to vacant roles in MedBiquitous leadership
To learn how you can hold a leadership position with MedBiquitous, please contact medbiq@aamc.org.
