MedBiquitous Status Update – August 2019

With the transition of MedBiquitous to AAMC well underway, I wanted to make sure that we keep the community up to date on activities occurring over the next few months as we bring the program back to full operational status.

Membership

As I work with my AAMC colleagues on developing a participation model, I invite the entire health professions community to engage with the MedBiquitous program. All existing participants of the community, which scales the health professions, includes industry partnerships and international institutions, continue to have access to the workgroups and all assets of MedBiquitous.

Many of the committees (Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Standards Committee) were dissolved with the MedBiquitous LLC and the previous membership agreements. A new governance structure is being developed in parallel with the new participant model.

Many of the workgroups have not been active for quite some time. Late this year, we will be looking to members of the workgroups to participate in visioning activities related to adoption of the standards. Please be on the lookout for these engagements.

Stakeholder Feedback

Over the next few months, I will be holding several listening sessions with the broader health professions education community to assist in shaping future directions for MedBiquitous.

AMEE, Vienna (August 23-28, 2019). I will be at AMEE and the TEL symposium. Please stop by the AAMC booth, C9, in the exhibitor hall.

Educause, Chicago (October 15-17, 2019) – I will not have a dedicated space at Educause but will be available for informal meetings. Please contact me at medbiq@aamc.org to arrange a time.

Learn Serve Lead, Phoenix (November 8-12, 2019) – MedBiquitous will make its debut at Learn Serve Lead in Phoenix, November 8-12. Here are some key activities to add to your calendar:

  • Join me at a joint knowledge-sharing session with the Education Technology Workgroup of the AAMC Group on Informational Resources on Sunday, November 10, at 4:30pm.
  • I will also be available throughout the conference for questions and conversations at the AAMC Pavilion.

Focused sessions – Dedicated sessions with different interest groups or partners will occur through December 2019. If you are interested in learning more about MedBiquitous and how the collection of technology specifications may be of value to your organization, please contact us, medbiq@aamc.org, for more information.
